This is an exciting opportunity to join Brooke on a permanent basis as Head of External Affairs and Advocacy. Our dedicated External Affairs Team work on a wide and demanding portfolio, delivering impactful campaigns for working equines by extending our reach and influence through inspiring advocacy and strategic engagement.  They engage with major international bodies and also directly support Advocacy and Campaigning at our Country Programme level.

You will lead and develop Brooke’s advocacy strategy both locally and internationally with a focus on key institutions, government leaders, and other NGOs. As the primary external ambassador, you will be representing Brooke to external constituencies, giving high profile presentations and speeches at conferences, leading the development of major advocacy campaigns and ensuring the effective coordination of the advocacy, public engagement and programmatic teams.

You will lead and motivate a high performing team, aligning individual and team objectives with Brooke’s strategic objectives. You will contribute to the development of policies, strategies and procedures within the wider organisation, communicating progress and learning to the senior leadership team.

We are looking for an individual who has a real commitment to lasting change and to the vision and mission of Brooke. You will need to have extensive practical knowledge and experience of engaging with strategic policy makers at a Global Institutional Level, with proven expertise in developing/implementing advocacy strategies. You must have excellent networking and representational skills and the ability to inspire others to improve their performance through reflective learning and communication. Central to this post will be a proven ability to lead and manage a high performing team to deliver both at the strategic and operational planning level.  In order to excel in this post, it is essential you possess the ability to work and travel independently and to deliver on an agenda which you would have ownership for.
